The Relationship between Evaluative Concerns Perfectionism and Job Burnout: The Moderated Mediation Effect of Entrapment and Meaning in Life

|
This study was to examine the moderated mediating effect of meaning in life on the relationship between evaluative concerns perfectionism and job burnout via entrapment. A total of 410 adult employees working in domestic companies completed a survey on evaluative concerns perfectionism, job burnout, entrapment, meaning in life. The results indicated evaluative concerns perfectionism, job burnout, and entrapment were significantly positively correlated with each other. In addition, the search for meaning and, the presence of meaning were significantly negatively correlated with evaluative concerns perfectionism, job burnout, and entrapment. Entrapment partially mediated the relationship between evaluative concerns perfectionism and job burnout, whereas the presence of meaning had significant effect of moderated mediation in the links between evaluative concerns perfectionism, entrapment and job burnout. Limitations of the study and implications for future studies are discussed.
